Arewa Movies TV

Arewa Movies TV is a Nigerian digital streaming platform focused on Indian Hausa movies and series. Established in 2020, it is known for offering one of the largest collections of Indian films dubbed into Hausa, also known locally as Fina finan Indian Hausa.

History

The project began in 2019 with the uploading of dubbed movies to YouTube. After the channel was shut down due to copyright claims, the founders tried using Facebook, which was also eventually blocked in 2020. In response, they decided to create an independent platform to store and distribute these movies without relying on third-party platforms.

The initial version was hosted on Blogger and used Google Drive for video storage. Due to bandwidth limitations, the team later moved to a WordPress site with shared hosting, which also proved unsustainable. In 2023, Arewa Movies TV upgraded to a Virtual Private Server (VPS) with S3-compatible storage, significantly improving reliability and speed.

Content

As of 2025, Arewa Movies TV hosts over 13,000 videos, including more than 8,000 movies, 116 series, and over 5,000 episodes. The platform features dubbed films from a variety of Hausa translation groups such as:

Originally a free platform from 2020 to January 11, 2024, Arewa Movies TV transitioned into a subscription-based service due to growing maintenance costs and user complaints about ads. Users now subscribe to access all content through the official mobile app.

Domain and Branding

Founders

The platform was created by JK (Jikan Liman), also known as Dan Liman, and A-SAID. They are also the founders of the popular Hausa literature platform Hausa Novel Lite.
